CRANBROOK - Spring football returns to the Kootenays this fall with a new format to encourage more kids to find their love for football.

After operating an NFL Flag league the previous spring, RMR Football has gone to a more localized format for the 2025 spring season while it focusses on enhancing the NFL Flag program for the fall of 2025. In order to better accommodate and compliment a busy spring sport season, this year's spring program will feature locally scheduled games and events with nearby communities. While the typical Sunday tournaments will not take place this spring, there is still an opportunity to gather together in late June for an end-of-season competition.

With the new format comes a reduction in registration fees, as families balance timetables and budgets during the spring, aiming to keep the entry costs low to encourage new players to try it out,  decrease the number of weekend commitments in a busy spring, and allow for more flexibility as we encourage athletes to play those other spring sports too! The spring age groups will also be adjusted to Gr 7/8, Gr. 5/6, and Gr. 3/4.

Communities may choose to practice more than 1x per week. RMR Football will be working with local contacts to avoid soccer/baseball/other spring sports to allow kids to continue to focus on those in the spring. Local Coaches may be scheduling games/mini tourneys with other nearby communities and will communicate those with their teams.

Registration is now open with a targeted start date of early May.
